Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones Crypto Tax uses and why, and how to change your choice at any time. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

What is a cookie?

  • A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser to remember information between visits, such as whether you're signed in or which language you prefer. Some of our preferences are kept in your browser's local storage, which works the same way and is covered by this policy too.

Necessary cookies

  • These are always set and cannot be turned off, because the site cannot work, or cannot remember a choice you made, without them. They are used only by Crypto Tax and are not shared with anyone.
  • Signing in and security: cookies that keep you signed in (up to 30 days), protect the sign-in and signup steps, and remember the page to return to after signing in.
  • Your choices: cookies that remember your cookie choice, language, theme, accessibility settings and that you closed the launch announcement, for up to 1 year. Display preferences in the app, such as table columns and density, are kept in your browser's local storage.

Analytics cookies (on by default)

  • Google Analytics 4, loaded when you visit the site unless you turned analytics off. It sets the _ga and _ga_* cookies (kept for up to 400 days) to measure, in aggregate, which pages are visited and which steps, such as signing up or buying a report, are completed. Google Analytics keeps this measurement data for 14 months.
  • It never receives your name, email, transactions or tax figures. Identifiers are removed from page addresses before they are sent, Google Analytics does not store IP addresses, and Google signals and ad personalization are turned off.
  • You can turn analytics off at any time in the cookie settings. Turning it off stops collection and deletes these cookies.

Marketing cookies (on by default)

  • Marketing cookies serve to measure our advertising campaigns and to show our ads to people who visited the site. They never include your name, email, transactions or tax figures.
  • You can turn marketing cookies off at any time in the cookie settings.

Third-party content

  • Coin logos are loaded directly from third-party image servers, without sending the address of the page you are on. Those servers do not set cookies through our site, but they do see your IP address, as any website does.
  • Signing in with Google loads Google's sign-in script on the sign-in and signup pages, subject to Google's own privacy policy.

Changing your choice

  • You can review or change your cookie choice at any time from the link in the site footer, or from Settings if you're signed in. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but blocking necessary cookies will stop sign-in from working.
  • Turning off analytics or marketing cookies does not affect your use of the Service in any way.

We use necessary cookies to run the site, and analytics and marketing cookies to understand how it is used, improve it and measure our advertising. You can turn them off at any time in the cookie settings. Learn more
